When parents first learn of an autism diagnosis with their child, it is inevitably a life changing moment. It is impossible to prepare yourself for all of the tribulations that will be undoubtedly occur while parenting a child with autism. Despite continued research and ongoing studies, there is still much to be discovered about the disease, and this can be incredibly frustrating for parents who simply want answers. As with many things: the best way to cope with and manage the disease is to learn as much about it as possible.

Autism doesn’t come with a specific set of symptoms but rather is a spectrum of disorders. Children with the disease will develop at different rates and show varying symptoms. New research suggests that the disease can be managed best with early detection, so it is imperative to look for signs and symptoms at a young age to ensure that your child receives the proper care and treatment.

With several questions still unanswered as to the causes and treatments for autism, there are constantly new studies and findings that help to illuminate some of the disease’s mysteries. As such, it is important for people to make a concerted effort to continue their autism education so that we can better understand the disease. A recent study by the Kennedy Krieger Institute has provided a new hypothesis for how the long-term effects of the disease may be determined.

In the study, researchers found that children who show signs of autism early might be more likely to overcome the adverse effects of the disease than those who show a plateau or regression later on. The children in the study who experienced some form of developmental regression were much more likely to show sever autism symptoms and require additional teaching supports. Those who showed autism signs early, however, typically developed in a more linear fashion and were able to overcome many of the symptoms commonly associated with autism.

Mercury Poisoning in the Present Day

Since the toxic nature of mercury has been discovered, there has been a concerted effort to eradicate it from products that the public is commonly exposed to. However, mercury is still found in a variety of rocks and minerals. In this day and age, most of the mercury that we are exposed to comes through food such as fish. Mercury is most dangerous, however, when it is present in the blood stream.

Although mercury poisoning is a risk to us all, it is particularly detrimental to pregnant mothers and newborn children. When children are exposed to high levels of mercury in the womb or at an early age, it can damage major organs such as the brain, kidneys, heart and lungs, as well as the immune system. Today there are several rules and regulations in place to ensure that the public isn’t exposed to excessive levels of the element.

Uses of Chelation Therapy

Although chelation therapy is used to treat a variety of diseases and disorders, there are few conditions where chelation is deemed “medically necessary” by medical practitioners and insurance providers. Some of these conditions include extreme heavy metal exposure, lead poisoning and Wilson’s disease. Although chelation is currently only believed to be “necessary” in these specific circumstances, it is used to treat a variety of other diseases and disorders as well.

The American Association of Pediatrics has issued guidelines for administering chelation therapy to children who have experienced excessive lead exposure, but there are few parameters set forth for other uses of the treatment. Many people advocate the use of chelation to remove mercury and other heavy metals, which some believe are the root cause of autism. With the scarce information available, there are sure to be future studies that expound the benefits of chelation and reveal possible side effects and drawbacks.

If you are familiar with the adverse effects of mercury poisoning, chances are that you’ve heard of detox products such as PCA-Rx as well. Of course, these products are designed to bind with mercury and other heavy metals in our bodies and help us get rid of them. The question that most people raise before they endeavor to test the product is simply, “What’s in it?”

When you go to the website, there is a bunch of convoluted, esoteric language that describes the product, but this isn’t of much use to most of us. Most of the ingredients are long, Latin names that mean nothing to most of us in the public. Essentially, PCA-Rx is a combination of 125 microbial ferments that are suspended in the solution. These ferments are actually alive and designed to target cells that have high levels of heavy metals.

The presence of heavy metals in our bodies can wreak havoc on our various systems. Mercury alone can create psychiatric disturbances, speech problems and sensory abnormalities, among others. With the myriad risks associated with heavy metal poisoning and exposure, it seems intuitive that ridding our bodies of these chemicals is imperative.

One of the most efficient and common methods for achieving this is through heavy metal detox. There are several means for performing a detox, but chelation therapy is one of the most readily available. Another option is using a product such as PCA-Rx, which contains microorganisms that purify and detoxify your body by eliminating heavy metals and other pollutants.

Getting to Know Candida

Candid cleanse

Many people think that Candida is a singular organism that lives in our bodies, but it is actually a genus. This means that there are in fact dozens of different Candida variations, and they all have distinct characteristics. While many of the species of Candida are harmless, some have the potential to cause infection and disease.

Over the past decade, researchers have successfully sequenced the genome of several Candida species. This has given us a better understanding of how these tiny organisms operate and which ones are potentially dangerous. Luckily, there is also a method to rid your body of the hazardous forms of this fungus, which is aptly called a Candida cleanse.
