Signs of Autism in Children

Autism is a development disorder which affects the brain. Autism in a child is characterized by abnormal social interaction and communication, as well as restricted interests and repetitive behavior. Though nobody knows the true cause of Autism, it is suspected to have a strong genetic basis, but has been associated with substances which cause birth defects. Autism awareness is important for new parents, as signs of autism will surface within the first three years of childbirth.
Though autistic children do often require assisted living as adults, it is possible with proper education and development for them to become independent. There is no cure for Autism, but it can be treated.
